About Junto
Junto is a magazine for what comes next.
Named for Benjamin Franklin’s club for “mutual improvement,” we publish essays and debates from writers across the American right who are more interested in building than relitigating.
The coalitions that defined conservative politics for a generation have fractured. The old arguments are settled or irrelevant. Junto exists to host the new ones—about where the right is headed, what it should stand for, and how to actually build something that lasts.
Junto is based in New York and publishes weekly.

Submissions
Junto accepts pitches from writers across the American right.
What we’re looking for
Essays and arguments that engage unsettled questions facing conservatism. We’re interested in debates, not consensus—pieces that take positions others on the right would dispute, and that defend those positions seriously.
We publish on politics, foreign policy, culture, economics, and ideas. We don’t publish breaking news, daily outrage, or content designed to confirm what readers already believe.
Strong pitches identify a specific argument, explain why it matters now, and indicate why you’re positioned to make it.
Format
We accept completed drafts or standard pitches.
Pitches should be a couple paragraphs: what you want to argue, why it matters, and a line on your background if we haven’t worked together.
Send pitches to: philip@readjunto.com
Subject line: “Pitch: [Title or Topic]”
Compensation
We pay for published work. Rates vary by length and scope, we’ll discuss specifics if we move forward with your pitch.
Response time
We read everything. If we’re interested, you’ll hear back within 24 hours. If you don’t hear from us, assume it’s a pass but you’re welcome to pitch again.
A note on editorial approach
Junto doesn’t enforce an ideological line. We publish writers who disagree with each other. What we require is that arguments are made seriously, in good faith, and with the expectation that readers can evaluate them for themselves.
If you’re unsure whether your idea fits, pitch it anyway.
Junto is an independent publication. We are not affiliated with any political party, think tank, or advocacy organization. We are funded by readers and by our founding investment. We answer to no one but ourselves and our subscribers. Consider supporting our work below.
